La ruta comienza en el área recreativa de La Pesanca, a pocos kilómetros de Infiesto en el ayuntamiento de Piloña. Toda la ruta transcurre a orillas del río, gozando del arrullo de sus aguas en algunos momentos, pasando a un ruido ensordecedor cuando nos acercamos a sus cascadas. Sorprende que un río tan agradable sea conocido como del Infierno a no ser que sea por el color maravillosamente rojizo que toman en otoño las hojas de las hayas.
